Zola翻身前兆?

Zola從周日(8/19)晚餐時就出現了嚇死人的90度仰角,讓我嚇一大跳,馬上聯想到了大法師,脖子像是要折斷了,趕緊扶正。星期一楊姐來看到也嚇了一大跳,但畢竟是生過三個孩子的媽,馬上就理解 了,笑著跟我說他是要準備翻身嘍!原來這小妞要準備翻身了!真是太開心啦!能夠每天見證baby們的成長,也真的是我新的人生體驗。現在每天最喜歡讓他們做的運動就是翻身運動,雖然Ingrid並沒有翻身的跡象,但是讓她跟著Zola一起趴著,學習爬的姿勢,一樣可以耗體力,這樣也可以加強白天小睡的睡眠品質,一 舉多得!

心如刀割的小睡訓練

七月初從天母回來,發現Twins在大床上睡得相當香甜,因此一搬回家我就鼓吹老公將小孩放在大床讓我親餵,同時也從原本正常的直睡改成橫睡,如此一來兩個baby一左一右在我兩側夜奶時相當方便,我不用起床,睡得空間也大了許多。雖然說是大了許多,但是我還是睡得蠻不舒服的,因為兩個baby都是大字型睡法,我的雙臂仍然沒什麼空間可以放,加上自己每天都冷得蓋大被,常怕被子蓋到baby們。老公也不好受,兩腳永遠是凸出床外沒處放,睡德也不安穩,就這樣一直實行到最近,老公去驗了血,發現有點高血壓,可能的原因是睡眠不足,這些讓我漸漸地想起我在月子中心訂了那幾本如何帶小孩的書籍,而這些書籍都睡在打包的箱子當中。

由於即將搬回天母,且楊姐也有了更好更棒的新工作,面臨回天母後可能要自己帶兩個小孩的情況,加上上週六餵奶與帶Twins的時候相當吃力,我決定要回歸正軌,按照書中所講的方式訓練Twins正常規律的生活,周日便開始實施狠心的哭哭訓練。兩個心肝寶貝這麼一哭,第一天還能和老公互相打氣忍住,第二天則和楊姐兩人互相忍耐,到了第三天晚上我都快崩潰了,Zola漸漸地有些許的放棄,任我們安排他的生活,但是Ingrid小睡到一半就會發出淒厲尖叫哭聲,加上她楚楚可憐的表情,我整天事情都做不下,頭痛極了!第四天我真的受不了,尤其我是從早到晚不斷地聽到baby們的哭聲,聽到心都快碎了。這時便不斷地怨恨自己,為什麼當初不堅持早點規範他們的生活,早點堅持按照書上的方式來訓練他們,現在就不會哭得這麼慘,應該要堅信自己是對的,只能繼續告訴自己,這樣做是對的,一切都還來得及。

由於搬家搬不成,我開始思考小孩的問題,因此早在八月初我就開始訓練他們早點上床睡覺,果真晚上十點一到,兩個baby真的就睡意來襲睡著了,哪管大床還是小床。但是白天小睡就不是這麼一回事了。就在Richard八月初周末來家裡玩後,兩張小床就搬到客廳,白天都在小床上,讓他們漸漸習慣小床的日子。而這週進一步開始訓練小床午睡,Zola真的是一個聰明的小孩,懂得見風轉舵,現在每天小睡,Ingrid再怎麼哭鬧,他都很淡定地睡著,只有真的進入淺眠期被吵到時,很不爽地大哭了兩三分鐘,又可以自己哀叫了幾聲睡回去;Ingrid就真的很喜歡人安撫,喜歡人陪睡,真的是前幾個月中下的因,誰叫Ingrid長的楚楚可憐,讓人忍不下心讓他大哭,結果現在最難改變地就是她了...現在的我只好改採柔性方式,在她床邊陪陪她,但是就是不抱她,讓她安心的睡著,希望這樣能夠有所改善。

Yummy Scrummy Carrot Cake

Materials

175g/6oz light muscovado sugar
175ml/6fl oz sunflower oil
3 large eggs, lightly beaten
140g/5oz grated carrot (about 3 medium carrots)
100g/4 oz raisins
grated zest of 1 large orange
175g/6oz self-raising flour
1 tsp bicarbonate of soga
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp grated nutmeg (freshly grated will give you the best flavour)

FOR THE FROSTING
175g/6oz icing sugar
1 1/2 -2 tbsp orange juice

Takes 1 1/4 hours/ Serves 15

How to do

1 Preheat the oven to 180 C/Gas 4 /fan oven 160 C. Oil and line the base and sides of an 18cm/7tin square cake tin. Tip the sugar into a large mixing bowl, pour in the oil and add the eggs. Lightly mix, then stir in the grated carrots, raisins and orange rind.
2. Mix the flour, soga and spices, then sift into the bowl. Lightly mix all the ingredients.
3. Pour the mixture into the prepared tin and bake for 40-50 minutes, until it feels firm and springy when you press it in the centre. Cool in the tin for 5 minutes, then turn it out, peel off the paper and cool on a wire rack.
4. Beat together the frosting ingredients in a small bowl until smooth. Set the cake on a serving plate and drizzle the icing over the top. Leave to set, then cut into slices.

Banana and Walnut Muffins

Materials

100g/4oz wholemeal flour
25g/10z soya flour
3 tbsp caster sugar
2 tsp baking powder
85g/3oz walnuts, roughly chopped
1 egg, beaten
50mal/2fl oz sweetened soya milk
50ml/2fl oz sunflower oil
2 large bananas, about 200g/8oz, when peeled, roughly chopped

FOR THE DECORATRION
3 tbsp apricot jam
50g/2oz chopped walnuts

Takes 40 minutes/ Makes 6

How to do

1. Preheat the oven to 200 C/Gas 6/fan oven 180 C. Line six muffin tins with paper muffin cases or oil the tins. Mix together the first five ingredients in a bowl with a pinch of salt and make a well in the centre.
2. In another bowl, mix together the egg, soya milk and oil. Pour this mixture into the flour and stir until just blended. Gently stir in the bananas. Spoon the mixture into the muffin cases, filling them to about two-thirds full. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until a skewer inserted comes out clean. Transfer the muffins to a wire rack.
3. Gently heat the jam and brush it on top of the muffins. Sprinkle over the walnuts and serve warm.
